Find the right person
“Find Jordan Miller and show me their household and groups.”
Bring people, family connections, and group involvement into one conversation.

GENESIS + YOUR AI ASSISTANT
Your church data. The AI assistant you already use. Ask questions, find people, and handle everyday updates without switching between screens.
You approve the connection. Your Genesis access still applies.
A connection, not another app to learn
Normally, your AI assistant doesn’t know who’s in your church or what’s on your calendar. Connecting Genesis lets it look up supported records when you ask, rather than making you copy and paste everything.
MCP is simply the bridge. Short for Model Context Protocol, it’s a standard way for an AI assistant to connect to another app. You sign in to Genesis, approve access, and get back to your conversation.
Less searching. More ministry.
Start with a lookup, explore a question, or ask for help with a small update. Here are a few everyday possibilities.
“Find Jordan Miller and show me their household and groups.”
Bring people, family connections, and group involvement into one conversation.
“What events are coming up in the next two weeks?”
Look up scheduled events and available attendance counts as you plan.
“Summarize giving by fund for last month.”
Get a starting point for a team discussion. Giving access is required.
“Update Jordan Miller’s phone number to the number I provide.”
Update supported contact fields without hunting through a profile. Review the details before asking for a change.
“Find the Tuesday Bible Study and add Jordan Miller to it.”
Look up groups and add an existing person when your Genesis permissions allow it.
“Using these upcoming events, draft a short announcement for Sunday.”
Let your assistant turn the records it finds into a draft you can review. This does not send or publish a message.
Examples only — names are fictional. Always check important answers and requested changes against your Genesis records.
From setup to your first conversation
You’ll need a Genesis staff account and an AI assistant that supports custom MCP connections. Availability depends on your assistant’s plan and workspace settings.
Open your assistant’s settings and look for Apps, Connectors, or a custom MCP connection. Use the Genesis connection address below.
Sign in to your Genesis account when prompted and approve the connection. Your assistant works with the access you already have.
Select or enable Genesis in your chat, name the church if you work with more than one, and ask your first question.

Claude and ChatGPT are optional. Genesis has its own AI assistant sitting in your dashboard, so you can ask about your church’s people, groups, events and giving without connecting anything or approving a new app.
It works with the access you already have, and tells you what it looked at — including when a record isn’t available to you.
See what Ask Genesis can doIn the dashboard, with nothing in between
Open Ask Genesis from the sidebar and type. No connection address to paste, no sign-in approval, no assistant plan to check first.
It sees what you can see. Asking about giving takes giving access, the same as anywhere else in Genesis.
“Who’s been serving longest?” or “How many visitors came last month?” — then keep asking in the same conversation.
Prefer Claude or ChatGPT? The connection above still works. Use either, or both — your Genesis permissions apply the same way.
The assistant acts as the staff member who approves it. It cannot bypass Genesis permissions or look into another church you don’t have access to.
MCP supports people, households, groups, events, and giving summaries today. It is not full access to every module. Care records and payment card or bank details are not exposed.
Remove the connection in your assistant when you no longer need it. Information returned to Claude or ChatGPT is also subject to that provider’s terms and your workspace settings.
For developers & builders
Connect another app, automate a handoff, or build a tool for your church. The Genesis REST API uses church-specific keys with selected read and write permissions.
Use an HTTP request in tools like Zapier or Make to bring a form entry into People or add a tag. This is a custom workflow, not a prebuilt connector.
Export contacts as CSV, read records updated since your last sync, and update supported fields. Plan identity matching carefully — families may share an email address.
Work with people, households, groups, events, attendance, form submissions, and giving summaries within your key’s scopes.
Only grant access to records your connected tool genuinely needs. Form submissions and custom contact fields may contain sensitive information entered by your church.
Connect the tools you already use to the people and information you care about.
